Census Bureau Releases New Community Resilience Estimates Data Equity Resource

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of Census Bureau on Sept. 28, 2021. It is reproduced in full below.

The U.S. Census Bureau today released the CRE for Equity data tool. In an easy-to-use dashboard, this new tool pulls together existing data to measure social vulnerability and equity gaps at the community level while providing context about the varying needs of different communities.

To measure these concepts, in the summer of 2020, the Census Bureau launched the 2019 Community Resilience Estimates (CRE) to measure social vulnerability. This information was combined with data from other sources such as the American Community Survey and the Census Bureau’s Planning Database. Providing all this information in one dataset allows users quick access to the data on a variety of topics concerning social vulnerability and equity unlike any other measures.
