Accepting Applications for 2016 McGovern-Dole Program

The following stakeholder notice was published by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Foreign Agricultural Service on July 16, 2015. It is reproduced in full below.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is now accepting applications for the 2016 McGovern-Dole Food for Education and Child Nutrition Program, which helps support education, child development and food security in low-income, food-deficit countries around the globe. The program supports school feeding and maternal and child nutrition projects.

By providing school meals, teacher training and related support, McGovern-Dole projects help boost school enrollment and academic performance. At the same time, the program also focuses on improving children’s health and learning capacity before they enter school by offering nutrition programs for pregnant and nursing women, infants and pre-schoolers.

McGovern-Dole projects, which normally last 3-5 years, are conducted by non-profit charitable organizations, cooperatives, and other international organizations.

The application deadline is COB Oct. 14, 2015.
