The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency released a new report outlining its investments to commemorate a year of success in implementing President Joe Biden's Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

EPA will receive more than $60 billion spanning five years for a variety of environmental programs that will bring much-needed funding to America’s water infrastructure, environmental cleanups and clean air protections, as well as advance environmental justice, according to an EPA news release.

“EPA is committed to leveraging this once-in-a-generation investment to secure a future that is healthier, safer and more just for all,” EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan said in the release. “Over the last year, EPA has put a down payment on projects across the country that will create millions of good-paying jobs, modernize our nation’s infrastructure, combat the climate crisis and put us on a path to winning the 21st century.”

The release states EPA investments have included creating a grant to help disadvantaged communities address emerging contaminants in drinking water systems, implementing a program to purchase more than 2,400 electric and clean school buses in school districts through the nation and providing funds for cleanup activities at some of the country’s most polluted sites.

“While we have our work cut out for us, the future ahead is bright and President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is allowing us to progress further and faster than ever before,” Regan said in the release.
