Neal Statement on November 2022 Jobs Report

WASHINGTON, DC- Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement on the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) November 2022 jobs report :

“Our economy is resilient, and the November jobs numbers are the latest marker that Democratic investments continue to spur sustainable job growth. Under President Biden’s bold leadership, we’ve defied global headwinds. Even the uncertainty of a Republican-controlled House didn’t spook employers. Never in my life have I seen a group so desperate to will a recession into existence for their own political gain. But they should know better than to bet against American workers.

“Earlier this week, Chair Powell acknowledged the progress we are making on tackling inflation, and now is the time for steadiness. A paycheck means stability, and workers finding the best opportunities they can is the strongest building block an economy can have. What’s to come is not a foregone conclusion, and if Republicans truly wanted to unlock the full potential of our workforce, they’d stop blocking the Ways and Means Committee’s efforts to deliver essential workplace supports like universal paid leave and affordable child care."
