Explanation of Position on a Second Committee Resolution on Information and Communications Technologies for Sustainable Development

The United States strongly supports the advancement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and closing the digital divides. We are pleased to join consensus on this resolution.

Regarding our position on the characterization of technology and/or knowledge transfer, we refer you to our general statement delivered on November 21.

The United States would also like to reaffirm its strong support for the active and meaningful participation of all stakeholders, including governments, the private sector, civil society, academia, and the technical community, on issues related to the role of information and communication technologies to help advance the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. In this regard, we welcome that the General Assembly through this resolution calls for an inclusive process to develop a Global Digital Compact as proposed in Our Common Agenda.

Thank you.
