BOISE, Idaho - The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced that local residents will have the opportunity to enroll in the popular TSA Pre✓® expedited screening program for one week at Boise Airport (BOI) starting Monday, May 8, 2017.
The application center will be located on the first floor at BOI, near baggage carousel one. It will be open Monday through Thursday, May 8 - 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. On Friday, May 12, it will be open 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
TSA Pre✓® allows enrolled Trusted Travelers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case and keep 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels in a carry-on bag. All six airlines that serve BOI - Alaska Airlines; Allegiant Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Southwest Airlines and United Airlines - participate in TSA Pre✓®. Travelers who want to enjoy the benefits of TSA Pre✓® on a consistent basis are encouraged to enroll in the program.
“TSA Pre✓® is a signature program of the agency and it will consistently streamline the security checkpoint process for those who enroll as a Trusted Traveler," said Andy Coose, TSA Federal Security Director for Idaho. “Interested travelers should make an appointment now to enroll in May."
“The Boise business community is grateful to the Boise Airport, TSA and our airline partners for creating a convenient route to enrolling in TSA Pre✓® right at the airport. We appreciate the TSA Pre✓® program role in speeding the healthy conduct of commerce for frequent Boise business travelers, while allowing our TSA officers to focus on more unknown risks," said Bill Connors, president and CEO of the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce.
The process to enroll as a Trusted Traveler begins online. Click on the words “Apply Now" to make an appointment to complete the enrollment process in-person TSA Pre✓® application center at BOI. Applicants must bring a current U.S. passport or a driver license and a certified copy of a birth certificate. Fingerprints will be collected during the session.
The application fee is $85 and Trusted Traveler status is good for five years. It can be paid at the time of your appointment by credit card, money order, company check, or certified/cashier’s check. Cash and personal checks are not accepted. Walk-ins are permitted and will be accommodated around scheduled appointments.
Once approved, individuals will receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN) making them eligible to utilize TSA Pre✓® lanes on a consistent basis at security checkpoints at airports nationwide. Children 12 and under are permitted to use the TSA Pre✓® lane when traveling with an eligible parent or guardian.
30 airlines participate in TSA Pre✓® and travelers departing a U.S. airport flying on any of those airlines are eligible for expedited screening. As always, TSA continues to incorporate random and unpredictable security measures both seen and unseen throughout the airport. All travelers will be screened, and no individual will be guaranteed expedited screening.
