BOISE, Idaho - With the summer vacation travel season quickly approaching, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) encourages local residents to come to the Boise Airport (BOI) and enroll in the popular TSA Pre✓® expedited screening program. Enrollment will be offered at the airport for five days, starting Monday, May 8.

The temporary enrollment center is located on the first floor of the airport, near baggage carousel one. It will be open Monday through Thursday, May 8 through 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. On Friday, May 12, the center will be open 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

TSA Pre✓® allows flyers to leave on their shoes, light jacket and belt, keep their laptop and 3-1-1 compliant liquids, gels and aerosols in a carry-on bag. All airlines that serve BOI participate in TSA Pre✓®. Travelers who want to enjoy the benefits of TSA Pre✓® and expedited screening on a consistent basis are encouraged to enroll in the program now.

“Passenger interest in TSA Pre✓® remains high due to the efficiency of the expedited screening process," said Andy Coose, TSA Federal Security Director for Idaho. “We anticipate the summer travel season to be one of the busiest ever nationwide. Come to the airport and enroll now as a Trusted Traveler ahead of the summer rush."

“The city of Boise is grateful to have such a strong relationship with our partners at the TSA. They are constantly focused on enhancing the passenger experience at BOI, making travel safer and more enjoyable," said Rebecca Hupp, Boise Airport Director. “Partnering with TSA to bring a temporary enrollment center to BOI is just another example of their commitment to our passengers."

Appointments can be made online at TSA.gov. Click on the words “Apply Now" and follow the steps to set up an in-person visit to the TSA Pre✓® enrollment center and complete the application process at BOI. Walk-ins are also accepted.

Applicants must bring a current U.S. passport or a driver license and certified copy of their birth certificate. An in-person visit is required since fingerprints will be collected during the enrollment process.

The application fee is $85 and Trusted Traveler status is good for five years. It can be paid at the time of your appointment by credit card, money order, company check, or certified/cashier’s check. Cash and personal checks are not accepted.

Once approved, individuals will receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN) making them eligible to utilize TSA Pre✓® lanes on a consistent basis at airport security checkpoints nationwide. Children 12 and under are permitted to use the TSA Pre✓® lane when traveling with a TSA Pre✓® eligible parent or guardian.

TSA Pre✓® screening is offered at airports in every state across the country with 30 airlines participating in the program. For a full list of locations and airlines, visit TSA.gov.

As always, TSA continues to incorporate random and unpredictable security measures both seen and unseen throughout the airport. All passengers will be screened, and no individual is guaranteed expedited screening.
