U.S. Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh recently commented on the promising data revealed in the employment report for November.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics report showed 263,000 jobs were added last month which contributed to an almost “historic low” 3.7% unemployment rate, according to a Dec. 2 U.S. Department of Labor news release.
“This report brings good news for working families, as the economy continues its transition into steady, stable growth that brings jobs and opportunity to more workers,” Walsh said in the release. “Since the start of this administration, our economy has added 10.5 million jobs and there are now over one million more jobs in America than before the pandemic began.”
Among jobs added were more than 750,000 in manufacturing, as well as 88,000 in the leisure and hospitality sector with 62,000 new jobs in dining establishments such as restaurants and bars, according to the release.
“The healthcare industry added 45,000 jobs, and the social assistance sector that includes childcare and other services critical to working families is now for the first time fully recovered from its pandemic job losses,” Walsh said in the release.
