Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman met today in Paris with Alice Rufo, Director General for Foreign Relations and Strategy at the Ministry of the Armed Forces. They discussed President Macron’s recent state visit to Washington, DC, as well as ongoing joint efforts to provide security assistance to Ukraine in its defense against Russia’s unprovoked and brutal war. Deputy Secretary Sherman stressed the shared concern we have over the PRC’s alignment with Russia, and Beijing’s attempts to erode the status quo in the Taiwan Strait, which threaten regional as well as global peace, stability, and prosperity. They also discussed the security situation in the Sahel.
