Lowey Statement on Continuing Resolution

The following press release was published by the U.S. Department of HCA on Dec. 19, 2018. It is reproduced in full below.

Incoming House Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Nita M. Lowey (D-NY-17) released the following statement on the continuing resolution that extends government funding through February 8, 2019:

“It is deeply disappointing that President Trump and the lame duck Republican Congress couldn’t even complete their final task of funding the government and have instead chosen to kick the can down the road for a third time. This haphazard approach to governance creates uncertainty for American families, businesses, and communities.

“When House Democrats assume control in two weeks, my primary focus will be to pass reasonable spending legislation that does not fund President Trump’s wasteful wall. Our talented incoming subcommittee chairs and the rest of our new Democratic Majority will work together to write responsible legislation that reflects the American people’s priorities and fully funds the government for the rest of the fiscal year."
