The House today approved a Continuing Resolution to reopen all federal agencies through February 28. The House has now passed eight bills to end the Trump Shutdown in the 116th Congress.
“This Continuing Resolution provides an additional option for President Trump and Senate Republicans to take yes for an answer and end the shutdown. It reopens government through Feb. 28, providing time for Congress to come to a full-year agreement without further jeopardizing vital services or the pay of federal employees," House Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Nita M. Lowey said. “The order of business should be simple: Reopen the government, pay federal employees, and then negotiate on border security and immigration policy."
Since Jan. 3, the House has passed eight pieces of legislation to reopen the federal government. That includes this Continuing Resolution, an emergency disaster appropriations bill that included a CR through February 8, four individual bipartisan Senate appropriations bills, a package of six bipartisan Senate appropriations bills, and a Continuing Resolution for Homeland Security through February 8. House Republicans blocked the passage of a ninth bill, a CR through February 1. Senate Republicans, acting at the behest of President Trump, have refused to consider any of the House-passed bills.
