House Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Nita M. Lowey (D-NY) released the following statement on Office of Management and Budget Acting Director Russ Vought’s op-ed announcing that President Trump’s fiscal year 2020 budget request will propose a five percent cut in non-defense discretionary spending:
“President Trump has already submitted two extreme budget requests filled with destructive cuts that Congress completely rejected. Acting Director Vought’s op-ed confirms that the third Trump budget will be more of the same.
“I look forward to working alongside my colleagues in both chambers and on both sides of the aisle to write appropriations bills that responsibly fund our government and invest in priorities that matter to working families."
