Education and the Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) released the following statement after the Biden administration announced it is extending the COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE) for a 12th time:
“This move by the Biden administration is textbook hypocrisy. Almost four months ago, President Biden declared ‘The Pandemic is over’ on national television—and he was right. Therefore, Biden health bureaucrats should have no need for such expansive emergency powers. Yet, they are clinging to these powers as if their very lives depended on it. Why? To continue controlling the lives of Americans at an unprecedented level.
“President Biden has not even responded to my letter asking how he plans to unwind the COVID-19 PHE and return to normal. It is time for President Biden to declare: ‘enough is enough.’ If he can’t govern without emergency powers, he has no place governing at all.”
