Rio Grande Village Nature Trail

Ojo Caliente, Spanish for hot spring, is the name of the small village you can see across the Rio Grande. Faults and fractures in the earth's crust allow water to circulate deeper into the earth where it becomes heated to over 100 degrees. The heated water returns to the surface as a hot spring.
