West Shore Campground fees to increase at Haystack Reservoir

The Crook County Parks and Recreation District—with the support of the Bureau of Reclamation as the land management agency—is increasing the camping fees at Haystack Reservoir West Shore Campground for the 2023 season. Beginning March 1, overnight tent and recreation vehicle camping fees will increase from $20 to $25 a night.

The fee increase was determined through a comparative cost analysis of similar recreation camping amenities throughout the area and within fair market value. Increased fees will help with rising operation and maintenance costs. The day use and group camping fees at South Shore Campground will remain same.

Reservoir is located approximately 10 miles south of Madras. It borders Crook, Deschutes, and Jefferson counties, and is impounded by Haystack Dam, which was built in 1957. It is owned by Reclamation and operated by the North Unit Irrigation District, which supplies irrigation water to the area.
