The Office of the United States Trade Representative today submitted to Congress its Budget Justification for Fiscal Year 2024. This document includes USTR’s strategic objectives, accomplishments, and measurements for success for the upcoming fiscal year.
“Our Fiscal Year 2024 Budget will allow us to implement the Biden-Harris Administration’s vision to use trade to pursue resilient, sustainable, and inclusive economic growth, while increasing America’s competitiveness on the global stage,” said Ambassador Tai. “Coupled with the unwavering dedication of USTR to put working families first, this budget serves as a vehicle to build our economy from the bottom up and the middle out and to craft a trade policy for a fairer and more equitable tomorrow. Under President Biden’s leadership, we are using trade as a force for good; one that promotes our democratic values with our allies and partners and pursues equitable prosperity for all Americans.”
For Fiscal Year 2024, the funding requirement for the Office of the United States Trade Representative is $77.87 million. This includes $62.87 million available directly to USTR and $15.0 million allocated through the Trade Enforcement Fund. This request represents a $1.87 million increase above the FY 2023 enacted level.
As Ambassador Tai said at a virtual ministerial for the Americas Partnership for Economic Prosperity in January 2023: “Under the President’s leadership, this administration has been writing a new story on trade. One that addresses today’s pressing issues that directly impact everyday people, to deliver real opportunities for workers and communities and advance our global priorities.”
This Budget will enable Ambassador Tai and USTR to carry out this mission, advance President Biden’s trade agenda, and deliver meaningful results on behalf of American workers, producers, and businesses.
