The following Stakeholder Announcement was published by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service on March 20, 2020. It is reproduced in full below.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) is posting its annual enforcement activity summary data, which provides information about enforcement efforts in the areas of biotechnology, agricultural quarantine inspection, animal and plant health, and animal welfare and horse protection. APHIS’ Investigative and Enforcement Services (IES) investigates alleged violations of the statutes and regulations administered by Agency programs. This year’s data reflects the new format adopted by the agency last year, which is designed to provide stakeholders with a broader view of the Agency’s efforts to promote compliance with regulations to protect American agriculture. To avoid confusion, APHIS archived its enforcement summaries for years prior to 2018 as they cannot be readily compared to the current format. The 2019 enforcement summary data is available at: https://www.aphis.usda.gov/aphis/ourfocus/business-services/ies.
