The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) added Malaysia to the list of regions that the APHIS considers to be affected with African Horse Sickness (AHS). AHS is a fatal viral disease affecting horses.
On Sept. 2, 2020, the veterinary authorities of Malaysia reported to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) confirmation of an AHS outbreak in that country. On Sept. 3, 2020, APHIS added Malaysia to the list of regions where AHS exists. This notice serves as the record and public notification of that action.
