The Transportation Security Administration is hiring for employees to work at Albany International Airport.

According to a March 21 news release, TSA planned three local career job fairs to seek employees to work at Albany International Airport. The first was held March 24. The other two are planned for 1-2 p.m. April 3 at the Union College Career Center, 807 Union St., Schenectady, N.Y., and 11 a.m.-3 p.m. April 6 at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Career Fair at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center, 279 Madison Ave., Albany, N.Y.

“The TSA is an agency that protects our national security, and it is staffed by well trained and professional officers who ensure the millions of passengers who transit through airport arrive at their destination safely," TSA Federal Security Director Bart R. Johnson said in the release. "It is also a personally rewarding federal job that offers significant benefits and annual opportunities to see healthy salary increases. Opportunities for professional growth are endless, and new hires will be performing a vital role in the protection of our country.”

There are openings for both full-time and part-time TSA officers at Albany International Airport offering starting salaries of $37,753 for employees hired before July, the release reported. In July, starting salaries for new employees are expected to increase to $38,650 annually.

Albany TSA officers hired in July will have their annual salaries increased to $47,878 after one year, according to the release. In two years, their annual salaries will be increased to $58,563.

Benefits for both part- and full-time TSA employees include paid training, paid annual and sick leave, contributions to the Thrift Savings Plan, contributions to retirement and health care plans, the release reported.

Previous experience in security or law enforcement is not necessary. New hires will receive comprehensive paid training at a Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, according to the release. Committed to creating and maintaining a diverse, equitable and inclusive work environment, TSA invites individuals of all backgrounds to apply, including military veterans and persons with disabilities.

Recruitment tables inside the airport terminal between the baggage claim area and the airport’s information desk were staffed 6 a.m.-4 p.m. every Thursday throughout March, the release said. Individuals interested in applying for a position as a TSA officer could visit the recruitment table to learn more.
