Gensler: 'I am pleased that Eric will head the Fort Worth Regional Office'

Eric R. Werner was recently named the director of the Fort Worth Securities and Exchange Commission regional office.

Ever since 2018, Werner has taken on the position of the associate regional director of enforcement in the  Fort Worth office, according to and April 25 news release

"I am pleased that Eric will head the Fort Worth regional office. In this new role, Eric will draw upon his wide range of experience from his more than 25 years with the SEC," SEC Chair Gary Gensler said in the news release. "I also would like to thank Marshall Gandy for serving as acting co-director and for his continued work with the SEC."

Werner is, as of now, the acting co-regional director. David L. Peavler, who departed the company in December 2022, is succeeded by Werner, the release said.

"I am honored to be able to lead the talented and dedicated staff of the Fort Worth office as we continue our mission of enhancing compliance and enforcing federal securities laws to protect investors," Werner said in the release.

Other officials praised Werner's experience, leadership as well as his investigation skills, which are vital to the new role for him, the release said. 

"Throughout his remarkable public service career, Eric has proven himself as a skilled investigator, reliable mentor and effective leader. We are fortunate to have him leading the Fort Worth office and contributing to the Commission’s enforcement work across the division," SEC Director of Enforcement Gurbir Grewal said in the release.

In his new role, Werner will oversee more than 100 employees, including attorneys, accountants, investigators and securities compliance examiners across Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Kansas, according to the release.

"Eric is a strong leader with a proven commitment to ensuring investor protection and strengthening compliance. I look forward to Eric joining our leadership team and helping to ensure the continued success of the Fort Worth’s examination program," Director of the SEC Division of Examination Richard R. Best said in the release.
