The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) President and CEO Eric Fanning gave his approval of the Securing Growth and Robust Leadership in American Aviation Act, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reauthorization bill which was recently passed by the House.
“As the bill title suggests, the House-passed, five-year Federal Aviation Administration reauthorization sets American aviation on a path toward future success in developing new technologies, strengthening our world-class aviation workforce, and ensuring U.S. aviation safety remains the gold standard," Fanning said, "The Aerospace Industries Association applauds the strong, bipartisan support for the bill’s progress on many of our members’ priorities, and we thank Chairman Sam Graves, Ranking Member Rick Larsen, Chairman Garret Graves and Ranking Member Steve Cohen for their continued support for American leadership in aviation manufacturing. We urge the Senate to follow suit to ensure a timely FAA reauthorization this year.”
According to the press release, Eric Fanning, President, and CEO of the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA), expressed appreciation for the U.S. House of Representatives' strong support in passing the Securing Growth and Robust Leadership in American Aviation Act (H.R. 3935), the reauthorization bill for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
According to a press release, the legislation was led by Sam Graves (R-MO), Chairman for the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure (T&I), as well as T&I Committee Ranking Member Rick Larsen (D-WA), Aviation Subcommittee Chairman Garret Graves (R-LA), and Aviation Subcommittee Ranking Member Steve Cohen (D-TN). After being introduced on July 9, the bill was passed with bipartisan support on July 20 vote of 351-69.
“This good faith process yielded a bipartisan bill that will create a safer, cleaner, greener, and more accessible U.S. aviation system. It will maintain our gold standard in safety and innovation, make a more sustainable and resilient aviation sector a reality, and improve accessibility and consumer protections for all passengers. This is also a jobs bill. It helps to build the economy from the middle out and the bottom up, and diversifies our workforce, recognizing how critical that effort is to our nation’s long-term economic success,” said according to the press release, Committee Ranking Member Rick Larsen said,
According to the press release, Aviation Chairman Garret Graves said, “The strong bipartisan vote today makes clear America will continue to be the global leader in aviation technology, trade, safety, and commercial air travel. The aviation bill makes transformative changes in the passenger experience and private aviation. Innovators in the Unmanned Aerial Systems and Advanced Air Mobility space also get the regulatory certainty they need to deploy some of the world’s most impressive technologies.”
