Jackson on appointment to the Council of Economic Advisers: 'This is a huge honor and privilege'

President Joe Biden recently appointed C. Kirabo Jackson, a Yale and Harvard-educated economist, to the Council of Economic Advisers, according to a press release.

"This is a huge honor and privilege," Jackson tweeted.

Jackson's credentials, outlined in the press release, mark him as a leading figure in economics and education.

Jackson currently serves as the editor-in-chief of the "American Economic Journal: Economic Policy" and has held previous roles as co-editor for related publications. He is the Abraham Harris professor of education and social policy at Northwestern University, a professor of economics, a fellow at the Institute for Policy Research and a faculty research fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research. Jackson's educational qualifications, as stated in the press release, include a bachelor's degree from Yale University and a Ph.D. from Harvard University, both in the field of economics.

The press release notes Jackson's research interests in labor economics, public finance and applied econometrics, with an emphasis on the economics of education. His research has explored various education-related subjects, such as teachers' roles in the K-12 system and the impact of public school spending on students.

Jackson's work has been published in prestigious economics journals, including the "Quarterly Journal of Economics" and the "Journal of Political Economy." His findings have garnered media attention from outlets such as the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal.

The press release also highlighted significant recognitions, including Jackson's election to the National Academy of Education in 2020, the David N. Kershaw Award in the same year and his election to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2022.
