The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) has announced its collaboration with LeadershIP, an event platform dedicated to the analysis and discussion of intellectual property (IP) and innovation. The platform will continue to be guided by its founder, Dr. Kirti Gupta, who also serves as a Senior Adviser at CSIS.
According to a press release from CSIS, LeadershIP will work alongside the think tank's Renewing American Innovation Project. This partnership aims to broaden the range of events offered by the Washington D.C.-based institution and facilitate research into key issues such as IP theft, artificial intelligence, inventorship, and IP standards.
John J. Hamre, president and CEO of CSIS, highlighted the significant role played by LeadershIP in his statement. "LeadershIP has served a major role in advancing the discussion on IP and driving its centrality within the innovation ecosystem. We look forward to building upon this important work," said Hamre.
The press release further noted that since its inception in 2014 under Gupta's leadership, LeadershIP has become one of the foremost organizers of events focused on IP and innovation policy. Its portfolio includes regular conferences and seminars held in Washington D.C., Brussels, as well as annual gatherings where academic, industry, and government experts deliberate on pressing policy issues.
Information from the LeadershIP website reveals that their 2022 event held in April in Washington D.C., attracted notable experts including Alex Rogers, president of Qualcomm Technology Licensing; Honorable Judge Paul Michel, retired Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit; and Honorable Katharina McFarland, commissioner of the U.S. National Security Commission on Artificial Intelligence.
Gupta expressed optimism about collaborating with CSIS. "We will benefit greatly from the opportunity to work with CSIS, which has excelled at cultivating expertise at the intersection of IP, innovation, and national security," Gupta said.
