The Education and the Workforce Committee has taken a significant step towards supporting job creators by advancing two bills. The bills in question are H.J. Res. 98, which aims to provide congressional disapproval of the rule submitted by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) regarding the "Standard for Determining Joint Employer Status," and H.R. 3400, known as the Small Businesses before Bureaucrats Act.
Committee Chairwoman, Virginia Foxx, expressed the importance of empowering workers and job creators by removing government barriers and bureaucratic red tape. She stated, "That’s why it’s so important for government to get out of the way and allow the private sector to take charge." Foxx commended the passage of H.J. Res. 98 and H.R. 3400 in the Committee, emphasizing their role in preventing obstacles that hinder America's workforce.
H.J. Res. 98 specifically nullifies the NLRB's joint employer rule, which Foxx referred to as "job-killing," and reinstates a more reasonable and traditional joint employer standard.
On the other hand, H.R. 3400, the Small Businesses before Bureaucrats Act, aims to shield small businesses from burdensome NLRB rules, litigation, and decisions. It also adjusts the NLRB's jurisdictional threshold to account for the growth of the economy and the modern value of the dollar. Under this act, businesses with retail revenues over $5,000,000 and non-retail businesses with revenues over $500,000 would fall within the NLRB's jurisdiction.
The Committee's efforts to advance these bills align with the objective of fostering an environment where job creators can thrive. By addressing the concerns raised by the NLRB's rules and regulations, the Committee aims to create a more favorable climate for innovation and economic growth.

This development represents a significant move towards supporting job creators and ensuring that government interference does not impede the progress of the private sector.
