The American Psychological Association (APA) has recently announced the appointment of Guillermo Corea as its Chief Business Innovation and Growth Officer. This newly created role will see Corea leading revenue-generating strategies for both APA and APA Services, Inc. (APASI).

According to an APA press release, Corea brings with him over 25 years of experience in various fields including business development, marketing, partnerships, and strategic management. Prior to his appointment at the association, he held two separate roles at the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) over a period of nine years—initially as Director of Digital Media and Business Development and later as Managing Director of the Workplace Innovation Lab and Venture Capital. Before his tenure at SHRM, Corea served in management roles at Scripps Networks, Ciena, and TMG Custom Media. He holds an MBA from Cornell University and a BA in Economics from Lynchburg College.

"APA welcomes Guillermo to this critical new position, which will involve identifying and diversifying revenue for the association, alliance building and business development," said Arthur C. Evans Jr., CEO of APA. "He brings a stellar record that includes launching new operations and expanding revenue streams in his prior positions."

Corea expressed his enthusiasm about joining APA: "I am excited to join APA as the association looks to move beyond its traditional revenue streams of publishing and member dues. The rapid development of new technologies promises exciting new opportunities, as does the potential to expand APA’s strategic partnerships," he stated.

As reported by the APA press release, in his capacity as Chief Business Innovation and Growth Officer, Corea will report directly to the CEO but will also collaborate with other key executives such as the Deputy CEO, Chief Financial Officer, and other executives within both APA and APASI units.
