The Environmental Protection Agency's Mid-Atlantic Region has announced the opening of registration for its upcoming 3rd Annual environmental summit, scheduled to take place virtually on May 16, 2024. The summit, themed "Empowering Communities for Environmental Equity," aims to facilitate discussions on equitable access to healthy and sustainable communities.
Senior Advisor and Assistant to President Biden, Tom Perez, will be delivering opening remarks alongside EPA Deputy Administrator Janet McCabe at the event. The summit will bring together a diverse range of participants, including representatives from communities, non-profits, Tribes, advocacy groups, industry, academia, and state and local governments from six states and the District of Columbia.
U.S. EPA Mid-Atlantic Regional Administrator, Adam Ortiz, emphasized the importance of collaboration in addressing environmental issues, stating, "Environmental concerns are going to take all of us working together, breaking down silos, and sharing information."
The summit agenda will feature sessions and panels covering various topics such as grants, small farmer equity, and the environmental initiatives led by local mayors. Participants can access the full agenda, session descriptions, speakers, and registration portal on the EPA's website.
The virtual summit will utilize Zoom Events as the hosting platform, offering a central hub for meeting activities and access to the sessions supporting the event. Accommodations for participation can be arranged by contacting Joy Lee Pearson via telephone or email, with TTY users advised to reach out to the Federal TTY Relay Service.
