The Allies and Partners study, exploring DoD's collaboration with allies and partners, delved into various aspects such as capability integration, technology sharing, and fostering trust. Mr. Sander Oude Hengel, Defense Cooperation Attaché at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, highlighted challenges in defense equipment cooperation and trade with U.S. industry. Chief Master Sergeant Ron Lerch emphasized the importance of defined standards and collaboration in defense technology and information security efforts.
On the other hand, the Incentives for Tech Adoption study aimed to align DoD incentive structures with innovation needs. Colonel Kristin Saling, Chief of Innovation with the United States Army Recruiting Command, discussed strategies for talent management and policy synchronization. Additionally, General Paul Nakasone, former Commander of the United States Cyber Command, shared insights on ensuring mission readiness in evolving threat environments.
Board Members are set to present final recommendations from both studies at the next public meeting in July 2024. The Defense Innovation Board continues to provide independent advice to top defense officials, leveraging public and private sector strengths for national security and economic well-being.
