The upcoming 5x5: The Public Safety Innovation Summit in Chicago from June 25-27 will see the collaboration of two key U.S. Department of Commerce agencies to advance public safety communications technology.

The First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet Authority) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology Public Safety Communications Research Division (NIST PSCR) have been working together for over a decade on various projects aimed at enhancing public safety innovation and technology development.

The summit aims to bring together leaders in public safety, government, industry, and academia to shape the future of public safety technology. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in a collaborative experience focused on sharing technical insights, exchanging new ideas, and sparking conversations.

Among the activities planned for the summit are three plenary sessions featuring innovative technologies for public safety, keynote sessions with insights from industry professionals, and over 70 technology demonstrations covering topics such as location services, situational awareness, and mission-critical services. Additionally, attendees can participate in 40 breakout sessions for more in-depth discussions.

Keynote speakers at the event will include notable figures in the public safety communications field such as U.S. Fire Administrator Dr. Lori Moore-Merrell, Chicago Police Department Lieutenant Jermaine Harris, and NIST PSCR Division Chief Dereck Orr, among others.

Whether you are a researcher, industry professional, government official, or public safety personnel, the 5x5 summit offers a valuable opportunity to expand knowledge, build connections, and stay updated on the latest developments in public safety communications.
