WASHINGTON - The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has been awarded an annual procurement scorecard rating of “A+” by the Small Business Administration (SBA) for Fiscal Year (FY) 2023. This prestigious recognition reflects HUD's exceptional performance in reaching small business and socio-economic prime contracting and subcontracting goals.

HUD Acting Secretary Adrianne Todman expressed pride in the achievement, stating, "This achievement underscores our unwavering commitment to fostering economic growth and empowering small businesses." She further emphasized, "This recognition reaffirms our dedication to inclusivity and innovation in procurement practices, driving forward our mission to create thriving communities nationwide."

During National Small Business Week, HUD celebrated the ingenuity, resilience, and essential contributions of small businesses to the economy. HUD exceeded its small business annual prime and socio-economic contracting goals for FY 2023, surpassing targets for Small Disadvantaged, Women-Owned, Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned, and HUBZone businesses. Notably, the Department allocated 35.98% of total contracting dollars to small businesses, well above the federal government's 23% goal.

HUD's success in small business procurement was attributed to the collaborative efforts of program offices, procurement and OSDBU staff, and senior leadership. The Department acknowledges the ongoing work required and remains committed to enhancing its acquisition workforce's focus on changes in acquisition policies and regulations that impact small business utilization.

Moving forward, HUD will continue leveraging its robust acquisition planning processes to maximize opportunities for small businesses in contracting and promote procurement equity.
