The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Remodelers has disclosed the most popular type of home remodeling projects as part of the celebration of National Home Remodeling Month in May. According to survey results released by the NAHB Remodelers, bathroom and kitchen remodels are the top choices among its members.
NAHB Remodelers Chair Mike Pressgrove, a remodeler from Topeka, Kan., emphasized the commitment to professionalism in assisting homeowners in achieving their dream homes. Pressgrove stated, “Whatever type of home improvement project consumers are looking for, NAHB Remodelers remains committed to professionalism and helping homeowners create the home of their dreams.”
The survey indicated that bathroom remodels were the most common project, with 65% of remodelers citing it, followed closely by kitchen remodels at 61%. Other popular remodeling categories identified by the survey include whole house remodels (50%), bathroom additions (23%), windows/doors replacement (22%), decks (20%), and enclosed/added porch (20%).
Pressgrove highlighted the favorable market conditions contributing to the high demand for remodeling projects, stating, “There are many positive factors right now in the marketplace that are helping to support remodeling demand, including the low inventory of homes on the market, aging housing stock, and growing equity that owners have in their homes.” He also mentioned that residential remodeling activity is expected to remain stable in 2024 compared to 2023.
As homeowners continue to invest in upgrading their properties, NAHB Remodelers encourage the use of highly skilled professionals for these projects. The association offers the National Home Remodeling Month Toolkit, which provides resources for remodelers to create local media campaigns that promote the value of working with professionals. The toolkit also offers tips for consumers on selecting professional remodelers and finding them in their local area.
National Home Remodeling Month is sponsored by Westlake Royal Building Products.
