Washington - VA Under Secretary for Memorial Affairs Matt Quinn expressed, “We honor our nation’s heroes interred in our national cemeteries every day, but most especially throughout Memorial May.” The Department of Veterans Affairs is set to participate in a 20,000-mile nationwide march with 214,000 volunteers to honor Veterans, service members, and their families.

The collaboration between Carry The Load and VA’s National Cemetery Administration will see rallies at 32 VA national cemeteries covering 20,000 miles along five different routes across 48 states. Participants will walk during the ‘Memorial May’ campaign, culminating in a final rally in Dallas, Texas over Memorial Day weekend.

Carry The Load, a non-profit organization facilitating ways to honor the sacrifices of military personnel, Veterans, first responders, and their families, is welcoming Americans of all ages to join the movement to honor and remember fallen heroes. Registration with Carry The Load is required to participate in the nationwide marches, with no donation necessary.

NCA will share video and photographs of Carry the Load cemetery visits on its social media accounts. The National Cemetery Administration ensures that over 5.4 million individuals, including 4.1 million Veterans from various wars, have final resting places in VA national cemeteries, commemorating their service and sacrifice to the nation.

For those seeking information about VA burial benefits, they are encouraged to visit one of VA’s National Cemetery Locations in-person, access details online, or call the toll-free number provided. Planning ahead for burial benefits can be done through NCA’s pre-need eligibility website.
