The global tech trade association ITI, the Information Technology Industry Council, presented policy priorities for the upcoming Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. ITI's recommendations focus on enhancing the competitiveness and resilience of Europe's economy and improving the Single Market. Additionally, ITI provides guidance on key policy areas such as connectivity, telecommunications, cybersecurity rules, and Artificial Intelligence.
ITI President and CEO Jason Oxman stated, "The EU Hungarian Presidency will have the chance to lay the groundwork for the next cycle of EU technology and innovation policy. Europe has established itself as one of the foremost regulatory powers in the world. Now, it is crucial that the Hungarian Presidency and the EU send a clear message that good implementation is just as important as good regulation when it comes to ensuring competitiveness and preserving innovation."
To assist the Hungarian Presidency in shaping and executing its digital agenda, ITI suggests a focus on several areas, including evaluating regulatory needs in connectivity and telecoms, implementing cybersecurity regulations effectively, and adopting a pro-innovation approach to AI policy. ITI emphasizes the importance of maintaining a technology-neutral approach and providing legal clarity and predictability for companies across the Single Market.
