ServiceNow (NYSE: NOW) and Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ: MSFT) announced an expanded strategic alliance at ServiceNow’s annual customer and partner event, Knowledge 2024. The companies are combining their generative AI capabilities to enhance employee choice and flexibility. The integration of ServiceNow's Now Assist and Microsoft's Copilot brings together two generative AI assistants into one seamless enterprise experience, aiming to create value for enterprise workers and unlock new productivity avenues.

The collaboration will allow Now Assist and Microsoft Copilot to interact intuitively, meeting employees where they are to execute common productivity tasks. This is facilitated by integrating the intelligence of Now Assist with ServiceNow’s AI-powered workflows with Microsoft Copilot, creating a more holistic, connected experience.

CJ Desai, president and chief operating officer at ServiceNow, stated that this shift in generative AI would result from industry leaders putting AI to work for their customers. He said, “We’re on our way to bringing the best of both worlds with the combined power of Now Assist and Microsoft Copilot to transform how work happens.” Desai added that the partnership with Microsoft would enable a smarter way to work where generative AI assistants can cohabitate and interact to unlock new levels of productivity.

Rajesh Jha, executive vice president of Experiences + Devices at Microsoft, expressed commitment towards helping customers adapt in this new age of AI. He highlighted that the seamless integration of their AI-powered assistants would improve employee and IT productivity levels, reduce context switching, and ensure easier execution of everyday work tasks.

The simultaneous presence of ServiceNow's and Microsoft’s AI assistants within Microsoft 365 aims to eliminate friction for employees quickly. Future capabilities will also enable experiences such as allowing employees to engage Copilot for Microsoft 365 from ServiceNow to create documents based on ServiceNow prompts.

ServiceNow and Microsoft have been strategic partners since 2019. The expanded partnership represents the next phase of innovation for their customers and how their two platforms will empower the next generation of AI-driven digital business. The Now Assist and Microsoft Copilot integration announced today will be generally available in Fall of 2024.
