U.S. Rep. Grothman to hold classified hearing on CCP infiltration of American military bases

U.S. Representative Glenn Grothman (R-Wis.), chairman of the Subcommittee on National Security, the Border, and Foreign Affairs, is set to conduct a classified hearing addressing policy shortcomings that have enabled the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and other malign entities to infiltrate U.S. military installations. The hearing, entitled "Intruder Alert: Assessing the CCP’s Ongoing Infiltration of U.S. Military Installations," will not be open to the public.

"There has been a multitude of concerning media reports on Chinese spies and other hostile foreign actors accessing and infiltrating U.S. military installations," Grothman explained in a Committee On Oversight and Accountability press release announcing the hearing. "The Biden Administration’s lax immigration policies have facilitated the entry of individuals engaged in espionage activities and it is unacceptable and endangers American citizens."

As per the press release, the hearing will be held within the Secure Compartmentalized Information Facility (SCIF) in the U.S. Capitol on May 16 at 9 a.m. ET. Witnesses will include John Dixson, director of Defense Intelligence, Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security, U.S. Department of Defense, and Jill Murphy, deputy assistant director, China Branch, Counterintelligence Division, Federal Bureau of Investigation.

"I look forward to gaining critical answers to how the Department of Defense and the U.S. Intelligence community are responding to these threats and what strategies have been instituted to ensure incursions of U.S. military bases are prevented moving forward," said Grothman in his statement.
