The Heritage Foundation has chosen The College Fix, a higher-education news website run by the Student Free Press Association, as the recipient of its Innovation Prize. The award comes with a $100,000 prize that will aid The College Fix in promoting leadership development and preparing for 2025.

The College Fix is dedicated to working with college-aged writers, with an aim to identify and support young individuals who aspire to enhance campus journalism, explore careers in media, and uphold the principles of a free society.

The Heritage Foundation's Innovation Prize is designed to recognize and provide substantial financial awards totaling up to $1 million annually. It supports results-oriented nonprofits involved in projects related to research, litigation, education, outreach or communications. This particular focus is on empowering parents in education, holding Big Tech accountable, countering the threat of the Chinese Communist Party, securing America’s borders and reducing crime, ensuring free and fair elections, reducing the growth of spending and inflation, and promoting life and family formation.

Heritage President Dr. Kevin Roberts released a statement upon announcement of the award: “Media institutions push one-sided narratives that form public opinion and shape the direction of our country—almost entirely to the detriment of conservatives. The College Fix is addressing this problem by launching the Restore the Media video series."

John J. Miller, founder and executive director of The College Fix added: “Liberal media bias exists in large measure because so few conservatives choose to become professional journalists. The College Fix is dedicated to solving this problem through recruitment, training, and encouragement of young people--and this Innovation Prize will give us the chance to create a new series of videos that seek to address and solve the problem."

This marks the fourth round of Heritage Innovation Prizes awarded. Previous winners include Communio, National Association of Scholars, Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs, Speech First, and Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation.
