NFIB backs resolution to repeal DOE gas furnace efficiency standards

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), a prominent small business advocacy organization, has announced its support for S.J. Res. 58, a Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution aimed at repealing the Department of Energy's (DOE) final rule on gas furnace efficiency standards. The NFIB will consider this resolution as a Key Vote for the 118th Congress.

“This DOE regulation is one of the many burdensome and costly regulations flowing out of Washington,” said Adam Temple, NFIB Vice President of Advocacy. “Small business owners are overwhelmed with the countless government regulations that are increasing costs and red tape for their businesses. In this case, the DOE has misrepresented the economic impact this rule will have on small businesses as it will ultimately increase the input costs of small business owners and increase inflationary pressures. We support the Senate’s effort to repeal DOE’s burdensome rule and alleviate some pressure on small businesses.”

The legislation seeks to eliminate what is viewed by NFIB as a burdensome regulation that could exacerbate inflationary pressures on small business owners and restrict their options. An NFIB member ballot revealed that 96% of its members believe that the federal government should not impose restrictions on consumer products such as gas furnaces.
