Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken engaged in a discussion today with Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani regarding a proposed agreement aimed at achieving a comprehensive ceasefire in Gaza. The deal also seeks the release of all hostages and aims to establish enduring peace.
According to Spokesperson Matthew Miller, the dialogue focused on the benefits outlined in the roadmap for Gaza's residents. These include an increase in humanitarian aid, the return of displaced civilians to North Gaza, and initiating reconstruction efforts.
During the conversation, Secretary Blinken expressed gratitude towards Qatar for its pivotal role in mediating and facilitating peace negotiations. He further stressed the necessity for Hamas to accept the deal without any delays.
