Center for American Progress launches campaign against Heritage Foundation's Project 2025

ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

The Center for American Progress (CAP) has initiated a campaign to scrutinize the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025. According to CAP, Project 2025 is described as an "authoritarian playbook" aimed at dismantling the system of checks and balances integral to American democracy, potentially leading to policies that could negatively impact all Americans. CAP intends to use its policy and communications resources to inform the public about the potential effects of Project 2025 and argue that it represents a significant departure from foundational national values.

CAP has already published four analyses on various aspects of Project 2025's policy proposals:

- “Project 2025 Prescription Drug Plan Would Increase Costs for as Many as 18.5 Million Seniors and Others With Medicare” by Nicole Rapfogel

- “Project 2025’s Distortion of a Reconstruction-Era Law Could Enact a National Abortion Ban” by Sabrina Talukder

- “Project 2025 Would Increase Costs for Commuters, Defund Transit Maintenance, and Undermine Economic Growth” by Kevin DeGood

- “The Far Right’s Invitation for Foreign Interference in U.S. Elections: How Project 2025 Would Eliminate U.S. Cyber Command’s Election Work” by Greta Bedekovics

For further updates on CAP's analysis of Project 2025, interested parties are encouraged to visit their new series page dedicated to ongoing research on this topic and subscribe to the Spotlight Project 2025 newsletter.
