Washington, D.C. — President Joe Biden announced new affirmative measures aimed at addressing the United States' immigration system. Patrick Gaspard, president and CEO of the Center for American Progress, issued a statement in response to the announcement.
"While the previous administration ripped families apart, the Biden administration is using its legal authority to keep families together," Gaspard stated. He described the announcement as "the most significant step taken to expand legal status protections since Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) was established a dozen years ago."
Gaspard emphasized that this initiative would provide greater financial stability for families and U.S. employers, contributing to economic growth and expanding America's middle class. "After years of uncertainty and being forced to navigate the United States’ broken and outdated immigration system, hundreds of thousands of families are waking up today being able to exhale because of the Biden administration’s commitment to keep families together," he added. "That’s something we should all celebrate."
