On June 21, 2024, the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the United States (TECRO) hosted consultations in Taipei with representatives from the U.S. Department of State and the Taiwan Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The discussions centered on expanding Taiwan’s meaningful participation in the United Nations system and other international fora.

Taiwan’s expertise is considered valuable in addressing urgent global challenges such as international public health, food security, aviation safety, and climate change. "Taiwan has a demonstrated capability and willingness to help address global issues and support the international community," stated a participant.

U.S. participants reaffirmed their commitment to Taiwan’s involvement in international organizations. "Our support for Taiwan’s meaningful participation in international fora is in line with our one China policy," they emphasized, noting that this policy is guided by the Taiwan Relations Act, the three Joint Communiques, and the Six Assurances.
