WASHINGTON - Today, global tech trade association ITI issued a statement from its President and CEO Jason Oxman in reaction to the Supreme Court of the United States decisions in Moody v. NetChoice and NetChoice v. Paxton.

"Tech companies and governments have a shared responsibility to maintain a safe online environment. Internet platforms rely on content moderation to meet that duty, and help Americans work, learn, shop, connect, and express themselves online free from harassment, disinformation, and incendiary content. We’re encouraged the U.S. Supreme Court recognizes the First Amendment applies to companies moderating content on the online platforms they operate and urge the lower courts in Florida and Texas to uphold this principle as they conduct additional factual and legal analysis on remand."

In December 2023, ITI and a coalition of tech organizations filed an amicus brief in Moody v. NetChoice and NetChoice v. Paxton calling on the Supreme Court to recognize that laws in Texas and Florida violate technology companies’ First Amendment rights to control what speech appears on their platforms.
