On July 2, 2024, Extreme Tech Challenge (XTC) and the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Global Partnerships signed a Memorandum of Understanding for XTC to join the Coalition for Climate Entrepreneurship (CCE) public-private partnership.

CCE is designed to catalyze climate innovation in developing economies by nurturing emerging and market-viable climate solutions. The U.S. Department of State collaborates with CCE partners, including academia, accelerators, investors, nonprofits, and corporations, to support climate-focused startups and bolster sustainable investment to confront climate change and advance economic security. Other CCE partners include Google, LinkedIn, Salesforce, Microsoft, Nvidia, General Electric, Good Machine, and more than 20 other technology and innovation leaders.

CCE’s newest partner, Extreme Tech Challenge (XTC), convenes one of the world’s largest startup ecosystems for entrepreneurs addressing global challenges. XTC brings its experience leading various startup competitions, thought leadership initiatives, and networking events to the CCE Partnership. XTC’s first initiative under the CCE partnership with the Department of State will be the Extreme Tech Challenge Startup Cup for semiconductor and AI innovations addressing climate challenges. This startup competition will recognize and support innovations that reduce emissions, enhance energy efficiency, and minimize waste. The semifinals event is scheduled to take place during TechCrunch Disrupt 2024 on October 28, 2024, with the finals event held during the Consumer Electronics Show from January 7-10, 2025.
