ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

On July 15, the United States and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia signed a framework agreement to facilitate cooperation on civilian space exploration and research.

NASA Administrator Bill Nelson signed on behalf of the United States, while CEO of the Saudi Space Agency Mohammed bin Saud Al-Tamimi represented the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The agreement, titled “Framework Agreement Between the Government of the United States of America and the Government of The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Cooperation in Aeronautics and the Exploration and Use of Airspace and Outer Space for Peaceful Purposes,” establishes a legal framework to enhance collaboration between both nations.

Additionally, it acknowledges the importance of the Artemis Accords – which were signed by the United States in October 2020 and by Saudi Arabia in July 2022 – reflecting both countries' commitment to transparent, safe, and responsible space exploration.
