On July 16, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Western Hemisphere Affairs, Ms. Jana Nelson, met with the Brazilian Chief of the Joint Staff of the Armed Forces, Admiral Aguiar Freire, to discuss the bilateral defense relationship.
Their discussions covered a variety of topics, including the pending reciprocal defense procurement agreement, cyber defense, aerial interdiction, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, and the situation in Haiti.
