The Kyrgyz Republic has successfully repatriated 22 women and children from the al-Hol and Roj displaced persons camps in northeast Syria. This marks the second such return of its nationals this year and the sixth overall since February 2023. A statement commended the Kyrgyz Republic for its continued efforts, describing repatriation as "the only durable solution to the humanitarian and security challenges in northeast Syria."

Since early 2023, a total of 454 Kyrgyz nationals have been repatriated through U.S.-assisted operations. This includes 121 individuals this year, representing a significant portion of the nearly 228 non-Syrian or Iraqi third-country nationals returned to their countries of origin so far in 2024. The statement highlighted that "the Kyrgyz Republic continues to serve as a leader on repatriation from northeast Syria within the region and worldwide." It further emphasized ongoing support for these efforts, including rehabilitation and reintegration initiatives.

Currently, approximately 27,000 individuals from over 60 countries remain in the al-Hol and Roj camps. Most are children under the age of 12 who face dire conditions.

The statement expressed gratitude towards international and local partners, including the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Government of Kuwait, for their assistance in returning displaced persons to their home countries. The United States reaffirmed its readiness to support other nations in their repatriation efforts.
