The U.S. Department of Transportation has released the fourth installment of its “Investing in America” video series, highlighting U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg’s visit to Mississippi in June. The documentary focuses on projects funded by President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and underscores how investments from the Biden-Harris Administration are bolstering local economies, creating jobs, improving supply chain efficiency, and connecting underserved communities.

During his two-day trip, Secretary Buttigieg toured key infrastructure projects in Mississippi. On the first day, he visited the Port of Rosedale alongside local leaders. The port received an $8.7 million grant from the Port Infrastructure Development Program aimed at upgrading and expanding its operations. This funding is expected to benefit rural communities and farmers by enhancing port efficiency and expediting the movement of agricultural goods.

On the second day, Secretary Buttigieg attended a groundbreaking ceremony for the Medgar Evers Boulevard project with U.S. Congressman Bennie Thompson. This historic street in Jackson, Mississippi received a $20 million RAISE grant to reconstruct a 1.5-mile section into a pedestrian and transit-friendly road, improving safety and connectivity for the neighborhood.

The Biden-Harris Administration has committed over $44 billion over five years to rural communities for rebuilding critical transportation infrastructure such as roads, bridges, transit systems, and airports. In Mississippi alone, more than $5.4 billion has been allocated under President Biden’s Investing in America agenda for public investments in infrastructure, clean energy, and manufacturing.

Previous installments of the video series have featured various projects across the United States:

- The Blatnik Bridge connecting Duluth, Minnesota with Superior, Wisconsin.

- Philadelphia’s Chinatown Stitch project which received $159 million to cap Vine Street Expressway.

- Members of United Steel Workers in Coatesville, Pennsylvania producing American-made steel for national infrastructure projects.
