ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced a settlement with RBL Products Inc., based in Detroit, Michigan, for allegedly selling unregistered pesticide products. The company, located at 6040 Russell St., will pay a $584,000 penalty and has ceased production and sales of the implicated products.

RBL Products is accused of distributing or selling three unregistered pesticides: G200 Surface Sanitizer and Disinfectant, GClean G200 Surface Sanitizer and Disinfectant Wipes, and Isopropyl Alcohol Wipes. These products were intended for sanitizing and disinfecting hard surfaces.

Under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA), any product claiming to kill, destroy, prevent, or repel bacteria or viruses must undergo EPA’s registration process to verify its effectiveness before distribution or sale. Only registered products can make pesticidal public health claims.
