The United States and Argentina have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance cooperation on critical minerals. The agreement was formalized by U.S. Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment Jose W. Fernandez and Argentine Foreign Minister Diana Mondino during the U.S.-Argentina Energy Security Dialogue in Buenos Aires.
The MOU aims to bolster collaboration between the two nations in the supply chains of critical minerals. It focuses on promoting trade and investment in various stages of mineral resource management, including exploration, extraction, processing, refining, recycling, and recovery. The agreement outlines plans for further cooperation in governance, investment, and global supply chain security within the critical mineral resource sector.
"The signing ceremony took place on the sidelines of a bilateral meeting between Under Secretary Fernandez and Foreign Minister Mondino," an official statement noted.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to support the energy transition and facilitate the deployment of clean energy technologies.
