The Heritage Foundation announced that Arizona State University professor Colleen Sheehan will join the think tank as the David and Patricia Caldwell visiting fellow in the B. Kenneth Simon Center for American Studies.
Sheehan, author of “The Mind of James Madison: The Legacy of Classical Republicanism” and “James Madison and the Spirit of Republican Self-Government,” will focus on the nation's founding and assist with several projects, including a substantial update to "The Founders’ Almanac," first published in 2002. She will also help promote America's founding principles leading up to the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
While serving as a visiting fellow, Sheehan will continue teaching politics and ethics at ASU’s School of Civic and Economic Thought and Leadership. She is a former member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives who also served on the Pennsylvania State Board of Education.
“I am excited to be part of the Heritage Foundation's work to advance an understanding of America's founding principles and vision,” Sheehan said. “If our nation is currently at a political crossroads, as so many citizens believe it is, then clarity about the defining purpose of America—about what we as a people stand for—is of the utmost importance."
