Special Representative Fay Rodríguez to visit Germany for labor rights discussions

Special Representative for International Labor Affairs Kelly Fay Rodríguez will travel to Berlin, Germany from September 1-5 to promote President Biden’s Memorandum on Advancing Workers’ Rights, Empowerment, and High Labor Standards Globally.

In Germany, SRILA Fay Rodríguez will meet with officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Labor, German labor leaders, and private sector leaders. The discussions will focus on transatlantic cooperation on workforce development and a shared commitment to ensuring high labor standards in global supply chains.

SRILA Fay Rodríguez will also lead a session on the U.S. National Action Plan for Responsible Business Conduct at the Government of Germany’s bi-monthly Working Group on Business and Human Rights. This session is part of the governance structure for Germany’s National Action Plan for Business and Human Rights implementing the UN Guiding Principles. Participants will include representatives from government, business associations, trade unions, and civil society.
